Austrians should not accept compulsory vouchers, which are now covered by the government of the Federal Republic, but insist on payment of their claims.

Voucher instead of reimbursement: recently, the organizers of canceled package tours in Germany. Among other things, to prevent the impending bankruptcy of the travel company. But now the Austrian consumer advocate Peter Kolba warns: Those affected should rather insist on the payout.

It would be true that the newly enacted regulation is more transparent than many other proposals to solve this problem. It would also properly fulfill all disclosure obligations, such as orf.at reported. However, the insolvency protection is only a kind of default liability on the part of the German federal government if the organizer's insurer refuses to pay - and that can be expected. Because the coverage only concerns package tours, not vouchers. That could lead to disputes and thus to longer waiting times.
