Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) bundles the training portfolio for cockpit and cabin crews at its second largest location in Berlin-Schönefeld. The historical location there has been training pilots for over 30 years. Safety training for crews has also been offered there since the beginning of September. These trainings have taken place in Berlin-Waltersdorf over the past 10 years.

“With the relocation of the safety training to Schönefeld, we have succeeded in using synergies and optimized areas in order to act more cost-consciously and at the same time to increase the range of services for our customers. We are sticking to our high training standard and our customers are looked after by their proven contacts across all training courses, ”emphasizes Andrea Resch, Head of Safety, Service & CRM Training at LAT.

After the training stop in Waltersdorf on August 4th, all training equipment was dismantled there and moved to Hall E of the Schönefeld training center. This includes an A320 Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer (CEET) along with an A320 slide, the B777 slide tower, a B777 door trainer, a cockpit door keypad trainer, a cockpit emergency exit and the hands-on walls. A Real Fire Fighting Trainer (RFFT) has been installed outside.

“In addition to saving costs, the merging of the two locations is only associated with advantages. The proximity to the new capital airport BER is particularly attractive for our customers, as is the selection of hotels at Lufthansa conditions. Cabin and cockpit crews can now complete their safety training here together, ”adds Holger Klein, site manager of the training center in Berlin.
