According to their own statements, the airlines in the Lufthansa Group will launch 440 additional flights between Christmas and New Year. The offer is to be expanded by around 80.000 seats. The group justifies this step with the currently high demand.

Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines and Eurowings are to jointly operate around 2021 additional flights between Christmas 2022 and New Year 440. By resuming destinations and increasing the frequency of existing connections or using larger aircraft, the airlines are responding to the demand for flights into the Christmas holidays, which has been rising for weeks.

From the hubs in Munich and Frankfurt alone, Lufthansa is offering more than 120 additional flights with a capacity of 25.000 seats over the Christmas period. In the USA, New York and destinations in the state of Florida are particularly popular. In Europe there is particular demand for destinations on the Spanish mainland and the Canary Islands, Portugal and other sunny destinations in the Mediterranean and Scandinavia. In addition to these destinations, the snow-sure ski areas in Lapland (Northern Finland) are back on the flight schedule. Over Christmas and New Year you can reach Ivalo and Kuusamo from Frankfurt and Kittilä in Lapland and Tromsö in Norway from Munich.
