In the middle of the Corona crisis, Lufthansa submitted an application for AOC and OL for its new tourism project, which is known under the working title "Ocean". The company is to serve as a wet lease platform and bring together all tourist offers, reports CH-Aviation.com.
A year ago, the Lufthansa Executive Board announced that leisure traffic would be completely reorganized. Eurowings apparently turned out to be a financially expensive failure because the long-haul product never became profitable. However, the new establishment is not to be located in the low-cost segment, but is based on the Swiss Edelweiss Air. It is currently planned that eleven machines will be used from Frankfurt, Munich and Düsseldorf.
It can therefore be assumed that further changes are imminent at Eurowings. Within the group, the subsidiary Germanwings and the participation SunExpress Germany have already been disposed of. Lufthansa announced last year that the German Wings activities would be bundled in one platform. The subcontractor Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter, who flew with a DHC Dash 8-400 for Eurowings before the Corona crisis, has now filed for bankruptcy.
