London-Luton Airport, which is mainly used by low-cost airlines such as Wizz Air and Easyjet, had around 2021 million passengers in the summer months of July and August 1,2. This was around 66 percent below the pre-crisis level.

The number of passengers was even four percent below the same period in 2020. The management attributes this to the British travel light, among other things. In the summer of 2021, the destinations of Palma de Mallorca, Bucharest and Belfast were the ones that were most frequently used by passengers from Luton.

“We recognize the government's efforts to help the sector through this difficult time, but these numbers make it clear that the current travel system needs an urgent overhaul to restore passenger confidence and allow the sector to get through Finding your way through winter. ”Season and get out of the crisis.
