Mallorca: Airlines want to test before the return flight

Advertising

The German federal government is currently examining the introduction of a quarantine requirement for all people who have been abroad on vacation. Some airlines have suggested that tests be organized on their own in Mallorca. Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer (CSU) now wants to campaign for the project.

The Bildzeitung reports, citing Lufthansa, Eurowings, Tuifly, Condor and government circles, that all Mallorca vacationers should be tested for the corona virus on the island before departure. Corresponding premises are currently being sought on the airport site.

With this venture, the industry is trying to save the Easter business, because if a quarantine obligation is reintroduced when returning to Germany, a wave of cancellations could possibly be expected. Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer is said to have campaigned for the tests organized by the airlines within the government and in the federal-state conference.
