Since Tuesday, new entry regulations have been in effect for the Republic of Malta, which in most cases make things much easier. Those who have been vaccinated are at a disadvantage, however, because the island state now practices top-class discrimination, which could also have a negative impact on tourist demand.
People who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 do not need to present a negative PCR result. A closer look at the government ordinance and the information from the Ministry of Tourism show that this only applies to those people who can present a Maltese vaccination certificate with a Maltese QR code. For the time being, there are no reliefs for vaccinated people who have received their vaccine in other EU countries.
Green Pass it will be implemented during the month
This should change by July 1, 2021 at the latest, because all documents from the European Union in the form of the app or the offline alternative will then be recognized as part of the Green Passport. A bilateral agreement has already been concluded with the United Kingdom, which is Malta's main source market.

For vaccinations that were administered abroad, the relevant evidence must be presented. Important: This online option can only be used by holders of Maltese ID cards.
Landing without a PCR result costs 120 euros
Thus - at least for the time being - most tourists only have the option of entering the country with a negative PCR test. If you cannot show this, you have to undergo a PCR test at Luqa Airport, for which you have to shell out 120 euros on the spot. If this is also refused, quarantine accommodation can be allocated at your own expense or entry can even be refused. Any costs for the quarantine must be paid on the spot in advance. It is therefore highly recommended that you bring the PCR results, which must not be older than 72 hours, with you.
In addition, two forms still have to be filled out when entering Malta. This is a Declaration that you have only been in certain states in the last few days, And the PLF form. These must be handed in upon arrival. At the same time, the PCR and / or vaccination records should be checked.
