Berlin-Brandenburg Airport was used by 2022 million passengers in March 1,3. Compared to February 2022, this was an increase of around 350.000 travelers. However, it was well below the performance of March 2019, because at that time Schönefeld and Tegel had 2,9 million passengers together.

Terminal 2022 went into operation at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport in March 2. This primarily improves the capacity of security checks. The building, which a former BER airport boss described as a “purpose building”, does not have its own gates. A connection takes passengers to Terminal 1, where boarding takes place. Currently, Terminal 2 is primarily used by Ryanair.

In total, around three million passengers traveled through BER Airport in the first three months of this year. That is 1,2 million more people than in the entire first half of last year.

Last month, 12.500 aircraft took off and landed at BER, 2.500 more than in the previous month. In March of last year there were only 4.000 machines. A total of 2.800 tons of air freight were handled in March, 1.000 tons more than in the same month last year and about as many tons as in the pre-Corona year 2019.
