After two and a half years and the construction of more than six kilometers of new roads and four bridges, the construction project “Expansion of the East Airport Feeder” is now available to road users.

Significant improvement in the quality of traffic for passengers, commuters and visitors from the airport area who approach Munich Airport via the so-called airport feeder east: by extending the Südring and Erdinger Allee (state road 2584) in the north-east of the airport premises and expanding the airport feeder to four lanes between the district road ED 5 and the airport tangent east, the capacity of the road network in this area will be doubled.

Flughafen München GmbH (FMG) has invested a total of around 30 million euros in this road construction project. Jost Lammers, Chairman of the FMG Management Board, welcomes the new traffic management in the east as an important milestone in improving the quality of connections to the airport: "This will hopefully reduce the daily traffic jams and delays on the eastern access routes, which so many road users have suffered from Have an end. I am very pleased that we were able to complete this important expansion measure on time and within budget, despite the Covid 19 crisis. ”The expansion was implemented in two construction phases. The construction work required a total of 220.000 cubic meters of earth moving - that corresponds to around 22.000 truck loads. Three hectares of green space were created to flank the road and around 7.500 trees were planted.
