Flughafen München GmbH (FMG) has received another award for its environmental management. The company was assessed by an independent environmental verifier on the basis of the environmental standards EMAS and ISO 14001.

According to this, FMG fulfills both the strict environmental standards according to the relevant European regulation (EMAS) and the globally recognized requirements that are placed on environmental management systems (ISO 14001). In his assessment, the appraiser emphasized that the commitment of FMG goes far beyond the legal requirements.

"The current Environmental Declaration 2021 provides information about the environmental management system and the extensive measures for environmental and climate protection at Munich Airport. It reports on modern LED lighting and ventilation systems in buildings and parking garages, with which considerable savings in electricity consumption and thus in CO2 Emissions are achieved ”, it says in the broadcast. The progress of e-mobility at Munich Airport is also the subject of the report: In addition to electrically powered cars and apron devices and a generator-electric passenger bus that is fueled with bio-methane, the 2020/21 winter season featured the “Elephant e-BETA “An electric aircraft de-icing device in use for the first time. This can de-ice ten to 15 aircraft with one battery charge.
