After more than two years, Myanmar reopened to international air traffic on April 17, 2022. Tourists and business travelers can apply for electronic visas again.
In order to enter the country, it is necessary to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Furthermore, a negative PCR test must be presented. The journey between airport and hotel must be in the form of a private transfer. Another PCR test must be carried out on site. The result must be awaited at the hotel.
In addition, one must have health insurance that includes coverage for Covid-19 diseases in the territory of Myanmar. It is explicitly required that this also covers the costs of any hotel quarantine, which official figures can cost up to 4.500 US dollars. The country's tourist office sells policies that start at around $50 and are valid for 15 days.
