New non-stop connection between Innsbruck and Warsaw

Advertising

For the first time, a non-stop connection from LOT Polish Airlines will connect Innsbruck with Warsaw between November 29, 2024 and March 28, 2025. The flight, which will be operated every Friday in the 2024/25 winter season with a Boeing 737-800, is aimed primarily at Polish guests who want to spend their winter vacation in Tyrol. Poland is one of the top 10 source markets for Tyrol and was responsible for around 2023 overnight stays in 700.000.

The introduction of this new flight route is the result of a long-term collaboration between Innsbruck Airport and Tyrolean Tourism to make travel easier for Polish tourists. Mario Gerber, Tyrolean Minister for Tourism and Economic Affairs, sees the new direct connection as an important step towards strengthening tourism and economic relations between Tyrol and Poland. Innsbruck's mayor Johannes Anzengruber and Barbara Plattner, Managing Director of Innsbruck Tourism, also spoke positively about the new connection.

LOT Polish Airlines, a member of the Star Alliance, is expanding its route network with the new route to Innsbruck, responding to the wishes of many passengers. Michał Fijoł, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, emphasized that Innsbruck is not only known for its excellent skiing conditions, but also for its cultural and tourist attractions. At the same time, the new connection gives Tyroleans the opportunity to visit the Polish capital Warsaw or to transfer to LOT Polish Airlines' global route network via Warsaw.

The flights will take place on Fridays. Flight LO 229 departs Warsaw at 10:25 and arrives in Innsbruck at 12:05. The return flight LO 230 leaves Innsbruck at 13:35 and arrives in Warsaw at 15:20.

Innsbruck can be understood as an international winter airport. One might also try to understand the Polish capital Warsaw as a hub.
But the scheduled flight policy of the airport in the Austrian capital remains incomprehensible, if not puzzling.
A global hub like Istanbul, for example, remains taboo for thousands of citizens of Turkish origin living in Tyrol. One or two flights a week to the Bosphorus metropolis are long overdue. Scheduled flights to the major hubs in southern Europe do not seem to interest Innsbruck.

That's right! I can only shake my head. Paris, Athens and now Warsaw, but only in winter. Not to mention the German cities of Berlin, Hamburg and Düsseldorf. In summer, people sleep at Innsbruck Airport
