Graz Airport is starting the year 2021 with a new management team. The long-standing managing director Gerhard Widmann took his well-deserved retirement at the end of the year. The airport is now managed by Wolfgang Grimus and Jürgen Löschnig.

Widmann, who has been in charge of Graz Airport since July 1, 1999, said in parting: “For more than 21 years I was able to develop the airport in all areas with a competent team, for which I am very grateful. I wish both of my successors all the best for the future, which is currently particularly challenging. I would particularly like to thank all employees of Flughafen Graz Betriebs GmbH and subsidiaries, as well as the many business partners who have supported me in my work for Graz Airport over the years! "

Wolfgang Grimus previously worked for Lauda Air, Austrian Airlines, Air Berlin and Qatar Airways, among others. The airport writes in a broadcast that it has “expertise in areas such as fleet and network planning, business development and sales”. “With its strategically favorable location, Graz Airport has been a guarantee for the mobility of the local economy and for flourishing tourism for many years. These are stable prerequisites to survive even in challenging phases and, moreover, to open one's eyes to new opportunities. I am very pleased to be able to successfully expand existing business areas and develop new perspectives together with an experienced team of highly qualified employees. In close coordination with our airline partners, tour operators and travel agencies, we are working hard to gradually re-establish the most comprehensive range of flights possible for the Styrian economy and tourism, ”said Grimus.

Co-Managing Director Jürgen Löschnig has been CFO of Holding Graz since 2005 and has around 20 years of management experience in various areas of the holding. For the past nine years he has been the so-called controlling managing director at the side of Gerhard Widmann. “In the nine years that I was able to lead Graz Airport as Managing Director with Gerhard Widmann, I was able to delve deeply into the subject. I would like to thank one of the best managers in the industry for this collaboration and I wish him all the best in his new life. Due to Corona, the airport is currently experiencing difficult times; But I am convinced that together we, the proven airport team, Wolfgang Grimus and I, will fly through these heavy thunderclouds well and will soon start climbing again, ”explains Löschnig.

Wolfgang Malik, CEO of Holding Graz says: ““ Gerhard Widmann, together with the owner, has made Graz Airport a model company in the Graz house and developed it into an important hub for the export-oriented Styrian economy. I would like to thank you for the many years of cooperation and wish Gerhard Widmann all the best. With Wolfgang Grimus we have succeeded in hiring an internationally well-networked manager. Jürgen Löschnig already has 9 years of experience as managing director of Graz Airport. Especially in difficult times, it is important that the airport soon goes uphill again with a clear strategy for the future. "
