The newly founded airline Global Airways, based in Vilnius, started commercial flight operations on May 21, 2022. To date, only one Airbus A320-200 has been registered on the new provider's AOC.

The above-mentioned aircraft is being flown under a wet lease contract on behalf of Maltese Corendon Europe. Previously, the LY-LGA was serviced in Larnaca, Cyprus. The medium-haul jet is based at Nuremberg Airport in Bavaria and serves various holiday routes from there for Corendon Europe.

Global Airways is a subsidiary of South Africa's Global Aviation. The parent company has been working with the Turkish Corendon Airlines for several years. In order to get better access to the EU market, a branch has been set up in Lithuania. With the LY-LGB and the LY-LGD, two more Airbus A320s, which will also fly for Corendon Europe, are to be added to the fleet shortly. The Vilnius-based aviation company was recently granted an AOC and operating license.
