The first Airbus A320neo from Austrian Airlines landed at Vienna-Schwechat Airport on Tuesday evening. The machine bears the OE-LZN and was transferred to Austria from Toulouse in France.

The still unnamed A320neo is still completely white, because the AUA livery has not yet been applied at the Airbus plant in Toulouse. Austrian Airlines Technik will now install the cabin and take care of the painting. According to the current state of affairs, the latter work will be carried out in Bratislava.

An Austrian transfer team picked up the first Airbus A320neo with the registration OE-LZN from the Airbus plant and took it to the new home country on a transfer flight. The machine took off today, September 13, 2022, under flight number OS1472 at 16.12:18.19 p.m. from Toulouse and landed at Vienna Airport at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. local time. The youngest member of the fleet was handed over to Austrian Technik after landing. The technical team will take care of the cabin upgrades and the painting of the aircraft in the next few weeks. The first commercial flight with passengers is scheduled for mid-October.

Austrian Airlines will initially receive four Airbus A320neos. One example arrived in Vienna on Tuesday evening, another is expected to be taken over in October 2022 and the other two A320neos are expected in the spring of next year. The four machines come from an order from the parent company Lufthansa and "are mainly used in continental traffic".

“Due to modern engine technology and improved aerodynamics, the aircraft type is characterized by more efficient fuel consumption and lower noise emissions compared to the previous model. We are thus taking an important step on the way to more climate-friendly air traffic and equipping our fleet for the future," says Austrian Airlines COO Francesco Sciortino.
