The airport fire brigade at Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport will in future work together with the state organization Technical Relief Organization. This is the first such cooperation in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The recovery of aircraft is a complex process that requires many different skills and experiences. In such a case, Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport can officially request the THW in the future. The nationwide aid organization supports the airport fire department in operations with trained personnel and modern equipment. A technical advisor from the THW provides the support requested by the airport and alerts the units via the district control center.

“The cooperation with the THW is a milestone for us. We will be able to recover aircraft even better and more competently in the future. I would like to thank everyone involved who made this nationwide, unique collaboration possible,” emphasizes Kempkensteffen. Sascha Meyer, head of the THW regional office in Arnsberg, is looking forward to future collaboration and sees the close cooperation as “an important contribution to the safety of the population and passengers.”
