Graz Airport put the VIP lounge back into operation a few days ago. For official reasons, it was closed for a long time, but the opportunity was taken to give the exclusive waiting area a new look.
Business travelers have repeatedly criticized the fact that there were too few sockets in this lounge. The emphasis is on “gave”, because one has adapted to the changed needs and has significantly increased the possibilities for charging a laptop, smartphone or tablet PC. All devices can be plugged in if their plugs fit into the usual sockets in Austria. So theoretically also a vacuum cleaner, but which traveler does that in a lounge?
At the same time, the lounge has “grown” because after the toilets there is now an additional room that is intended as a relaxation zone. There are sofa-like seating and loungers. You don't have to do without snacks and drinks here either, because a small basic menu is provided, i.e. you can save yourself the trip to the main buffet.
The motto of the Graz lounge is obviously under the aspect of comfort and well-being, because it uses surface material that is strongly reminiscent of high-quality sofas. The range of drinks and snacks has been expanded a little, but is adapted to the number of passengers in the respective times. In other words: Nobody has to leave the lounge hungry, but there are different options depending on the time of day.
Important: In Graz there is a special feature that holders of lounge access cards first have to go to the information desk in the public area. There the frequent flyers receive a barcode with which they can then enter the exclusive waiting area. If you do not know this or forget it, there is unfortunately no way of avoiding leaving the security area and renewed risk. Anyone who has to check in at the counter or hand in luggage there can of course have the lounge barcode issued there in one go.
