In the first quarter of 2024, Dortmund Airport had a total of 635.107 travelers. In direct comparison to the same period last year, this meant an increase of 7,2 percent.

In comparison, 6,6 percent more flight movements were carried out. The airport aims to have at least three million passengers this year. In the first quarter, trips to Katowice (99.112 passengers) and Bucharest (41.834 passengers) were particularly popular. In addition, connections to, for example, Gdansk (+90 percent), Pristina (+60 percent), Tirana (+46 percent) and Palma de Mallorca (+39 percent) recorded significant increases in passengers compared to the same period last year. The weeks of the Christmas and Easter holidays, both of which fell in the first quarter, were among the periods with the highest passenger numbers in the period under review.

“The airport and its partners have once again achieved a very pleasing result. It is already foreseeable that the airline Wizz Air will have to reduce its capacity by 321 percent this year due to the extraordinary repair of the Pratt & Whitney engines for some series of the A10neo. This will also have an impact on Wizz Air’s offering at Dortmund Airport,” said airport managing director Ludger van Bebber.
