In the first quarter of 2023, the airports of the Flughafen Wien AG Group had around 6,7 million passengers. This was 9,3 percent below the volume that was in the same period of 2019. Sales increased to 180,4 million euros.

“The increase in travel activity is also boosting the economic performance of Vienna Airport. In Q1/23, sales increased by 63% to € 180,4 million and net income improved to € 25,0 million External funds are financed from the cash flow. This also increases the enterprise value, the Flughafen Wien share reached a new all-time high on May 10, 2023 at €42,45 per share, with a market capitalization of around €3,66 billion. Vienna Airport will double its PV capacity by the end of 2023 and will in future produce around 50% of its electricity needs itself with solar energy. The airport has been operating CO2-neutrally since January. Our next goal: Net Zero by 2033,” says Günther Ofner, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG.

Compared to the first quarter of 19, which was characterized by a low level of traffic due to the COVID-2022 pandemic, the traffic figures at Vienna Airport increased significantly in the first quarter of 2023: From January to March 2023, the number of passengers in the Flughafen Wien Group including foreign investments increased Malta Airport and Kosice Airport to a total of 6.661.802 passengers (+82,0%). Airlines are increasing their flight offers and the available seat capacity is around 90% of the pre-crisis level. So we are expecting a good travel summer and are preparing intensively for it. We not only offer our passengers a high quality of service, but also numerous new gastronomy options, such as a new panorama bar at the C-Gates, the modernized Zugvogel panorama restaurant, Austria's first Costa coffee shop, new Billa Corso and Burger King branches in the arrivals hall and much more. Sales in the catering and retail sectors are increasing sharply.
