The holiday airline Condor is apparently not able to carry out the 2023 summer flight schedule without a wet lease partner and sister Marabu Airlines. The rebooking to subcontractors and the Estonian sister company are currently causing a lot of extra work for travel agencies.
They are quite annoyed, because passengers have been arranged for Condor flights or booked as part of package tours. The owner of an agency really lets off steam compared to the specialist portal FVW, because changes to wet lease partners or Marabu Airlines often also affect seat reservations and optional extras. According to the travel agency owner, the tour operators pass on the checking and new bookings to the travel agencies.
The extent would now be such that just the agency that spoke to the FVW would receive a "high double-digit number" of cases per week. This means significantly more work that is not compensated by either Condor or the respective tour operator. There are also complaints from passengers who don't think it's great that instead of flying with Condor, you get one with a subcontractor. Some optional extras and seat offers are not available on flights operated by wet lease partners.
Condor states, among other things, that due to the “personnel challenges, it is better to use partner airlines than to cancel flights”. It is also said that the Wetlease partners are "carefully selected according to the strictest European guidelines and specifications". In the 2023 summer flight schedule, Heston Airlines, FlyAir41, European Air Charter and Bulgaria Air, among others, are deployed for Condor. Some routes will be gradually taken over by the new sister company Marabu Airlines from May 1, 2023.
