The German Robert Koch Institute announced that around ten percent of new corona infections in Germany can be traced back to infections while on vacation. At the beginning of June 2021 it should have been only around one percent.

The state institute evaluated calendar weeks 25 to 28. According to the statistics, most of the infections are said to have occurred in Spain. 821 cases are reported. There are said to have been 171 infections in Russia. In the Netherlands, Turkey and Croatia, more than 100 travelers are also said to have been infected. Greece, Portugal, France and Italy are in double digits. During the observation period there were a total of 23.649 infections in Germany.

“In the period MW 25-28 / 2021, a probable exposure abroad was reported for 2.402 people. This shows that travel-related cases are playing an increasingly important role in the current infection rate, ”said the RKI.
