On October 24, 2024, Rudi Dolezal will present the premiere of his new program “100 Years of Austropop – World Famous in Austria…” at the Vindobona in Vienna.
The multimedia show combines readings, personal stories and previously unpublished video material to tell the story of Austropop. Dolezal, who has worked as a director and documentary filmmaker for decades with greats such as Wolfgang Ambros, Rainhard Fendrich and Falco, gives exclusive insights into the emergence of the Austrian music movement in his show.
The program is based on Dolezal's books "The History of Austropop in 20 Songs" and "Austropop - The Book" and sheds light on both the beginnings of the genre and its most important representatives. He shows unpublished concert recordings and tells humorous and sometimes dramatic anecdotes from the world of the artists. The title "100 Years of Austropop" refers to the influences of early Austrian musicians such as Hermann Leopoldi and Helmut Qualtinger, who laid the foundation for today's Austropop.
The premiere promises to be an unforgettable evening for music and culture lovers, spanning the entire spectrum from the origins to the high points of Austropop.
