Because of the war in Ukraine, the flight bans in the south of the country have now been extended for the twelfth time.

A total of eleven airports will remain closed until May 13, like the aviation portal Aero with reference to the Russian aviation authority. The cities of Rostov-on-Don, Voronezh and Krasnodar as well as the Black Sea resorts of Anapa and Gelendschik are affected. The bans also apply to the western Russian cities of Belgorod and Bryansk, from which Ukrainian attacks on infrastructure objects have been reported in recent weeks. Crimea, annexed by Russia since 2014, is also affected by the restrictions. The airport in Simferopol may not be approached.

After the war against Ukraine began on February 24, Russia temporarily closed its airports and repeatedly extended the bans. Travelers to southern Russia are advised to fly into the region via alternate airports in Sochi or Mineralnye Vody.
