Despite the pandemic, Russia is resuming regular air traffic with eight countries. The connections with Great Britain will be allowed again on June 2nd, as the government announced in Moscow yesterday. Regular flight operations with Austria, Hungary, Luxembourg and Croatia, among others, will start again from June 10th.
The flights between the Belarusian capital Minsk and Moscow will be significantly expanded. The airport in Minsk recently had to reduce its operations significantly because the Belarusian state airline Belavia is no longer allowed to take off and land in the EU and is no longer allowed to use the airspace.
Turkey can only be reached via detours
From June 10th, the number of flights will be increased to a total of nine countries, including Germany and Greece. The holiday destination of Turkey, which is traditionally important for Russians, can only be reached via detours due to the CoV location there, according to ORF.
The limitation of air traffic will initially be extended up to and including June 21. Russian providers are still not allowed to offer vacation trips to Turkey. But many take detours via other countries such as Azerbaijan and Belarus.
