Last week, the Airport Run took place at Salzburg Airport for the sixth time. Around 400 athletes took part and covered 4642 kilometers in the process, which will benefit the “Assisted Living in Wals” housing project run by Lebenshilfe Salzburg in the form of a donation.

"I am very happy that the popular airport run can finally take place again," says Airport Managing Director Bettina Ganghofer. "In addition to a part of the entry fee, every single kilometer run from the airport is given a silver medal and thus supports a great social project in our immediate vicinity."

The first airport run took place back in 2014, at that time still mostly with employees of the airport as well as local companies and authorities. The successful project was continued in 2016 and took place in the following years up to and including 2019. As part of the events that have taken place so far, more than 1300 runners ran a total of around 20.000 kilometers and thus practically halfway around the world!
