A non-stop connection between Salzburg and Milan-Linate operated by Austrian Airlines will not come. The Lufthansa subsidiary was able to get hold of the corresponding take-off and landing rights, but it will not be accepted.
As part of a reallocation of slots at Linate Airport, the Italian coordinator also allocated Austrian Airlines take-off and landing rights for Vienna-Linate and Salzburg-Linate. On Monday, an AUA spokesman confirmed to Aviation Direct that the admission from the federal city is envisaged, but no decision has been made yet. Austrian Airlines is currently heading for the remote Mapensa Airport in this region and not Linate Airport, which is very popular with business travelers.
Regarding Salzburg-Linate, the necessary slots have been allocated, but no inclusion is intended. A spokesman for Austrian Airlines said: “I can confirm that we have applied for and received Linate slots for flights from Salzburg. However, we do not plan to fly this route ”.
