The tour operator Tui will offer 2021 direct flights a week to five holiday countries from Salzburg Airport in the summer of 22. New connections to Zakynthos, Calabria and Cyprus are offered.

“Last year, travel was one of the most missed activities. So the desire to travel is great. This is shown by the number of hits on our website and the inquiries in our travel agencies, which have risen sharply since the announcement of the relaxation of travel restrictions in the summer, ”said Gottfried Math, Managing Director of Tui Austria, on Tuesday at a press conference at Salzburg Airport.

“Finally again: Fly from Salzburg! With the latest Covid regulations, of course. TUI - one of the strongest partners here at Salzburg Airport - has launched a summer program from Salzburg together with our strongest airline partner Eurowings, which is something to be proud of. In addition to the tried and tested classics such as Mallorca and the tourist favorites on the Greek and Italian islands, there are also exciting new destinations such as Zakynthos, Larnaca and Lamezia Terme on offer. It's going to be a colorful summer and the holiday destinations from Salzburg leave nothing to be desired, ”says airport manager Bettina Ganghofer.

In summer 2021, TUI guests will travel directly from Salzburg Airport to the Greek islands of Karpathos, Corfu, Crete, Rhodes, Kos and now to Zakynthos, Mallorca, Olbia / Sardinia and Hurghada / Egypt. Also new are the direct connections to Lamezia Terme / Calabria from June and Larnaca / Cyprus from July, which Tui offers once or twice a week.

Ganghofer expects the restart to be a success

“From July we can finally welcome the new connection with Flydubai. We managed to set foot in the Arab world despite difficult times and to fly into the hub of the third largest airport in the world, ”says Ganghofer. For Tui, Dubai was the best-booked travel destination together with the Maldives last winter. "We are very pleased that we can now also offer Dubai directly from Salzburg," says David Szabo, Head of Operation at Tui.

The tour operator and Salzburg Airport are looking to the next few months with optimism. “The vaccination progress and improved test options lay the foundation for safe travel. We anticipate that there will be a strong catch-up effect, especially in the summer months, and that the planes on many routes will quickly be booked out during the summer holidays, ”says Gottfried Math Corona pandemic has changed. With the green pass, which is supposed to make traveling much easier this year, combined with extensive security concepts for all tourism professionals, a carefree and relaxing holiday will be possible. And that is exactly what people are now really looking for again. I am convinced that both the established and the new flight connections will be very well received by our customers and that the restart will be a success. "
