After the discovery of two unattended bags, suspicions were raised that the bags could pose a risk to the airport. The police, with the help of numerous bomb technicians, examined this baggage, which meant that three security checkpoints had to be closed. This resulted in a waiting time of up to 75 minutes for passengers. The FAA announced that the airport would be closed until 19:45 p.m., and the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport could finally be lifted a few minutes before 20 p.m. with an all-clear, as explained by the Simple Flying portal. Only non-threatening fishing and diving equipment was found in the unattended bags, Port of Seattle spokesman Peter McGraw confirmed.
