The low-cost airline Eurowings has to reduce the summer flight schedule even further than previously known. Numerous flights are canceled at short notice, as there are numerous sick leave among the flying personnel. Another reason is that there is an acute shortage of staff at many ground service providers at various airports.

The carrier explained that further flights will have to be taken out of the system at short notice in the next few days. The losses recorded by flying personnel due to corona diseases are currently said to be significantly higher than the reserves held. According to a spokesman, around 40 flights were canceled on Tuesday and the same will be the case on Wednesday. Eurowings says it operates around 500 connections every day.

The Lufthansa subsidiary assumes that several Germany flights from Vienna and Graz will be cancelled. It is hoped that the situation will be under control by the end of June 2022. A few days ago, Lufthansa and Eurowings announced that the summer flight schedule for 2022 would be canceled due to the acute shortage of staff must be reduced.
