The South Tyrolean regional airline Skyalps is currently being discussed as a potential candidate for non-stop flights from Klagenfurt to Munich and/or Frankfurt am Main. The carrier confirmed that there are official talks with Carinthia Airport.

In December 2022, majority owner Lilihill wants introduce new hub connections. This should be Munich and/or Frankfurt am Main. Corresponding talks are being held with Skyalps, but the South Tyrolean company emphasizes that there is "nothing ready to announce" yet.

In any case, it would only be a real hub connection if the operator had a codeshare agreement with the Lufthansa Group. This is not the case with Skyalps. The company recently decided to start in Bolzano instead of in Frankfurt to fly to Kassel-Calden.
