The Ukrainian low-cost airline SkyUp has announced a second route to Austria. From April 22, 2022, the carrier plans to fly twice a week between Lviv and Vienna. This puts you in direct competition with Austrian Airlines.
So far, Wizz Air and Ryanair have stayed away from this route. The Hungarian lowcoster has the Ukrainian destinations Kiew-Schuljany, Kharkiv and Zaporizhia in its program from Vienna-Schwechat. However, the last-mentioned destination has not been flown to a single time since it was first announced in spring 2020, but the admission has always been postponed by a few weeks or months since then. The competitor Ryanair has Kiew-Borispil and Kherson in the flight schedule from Vienna.
The second Austrian route that Skyup wants to serve is Borispil-Salzburg. This is to start on December 26th, 2021 and will be served seasonally up to and including February 26th, 2022. A continuation is possible if successful. From Salzburg, Wizz Air has been announcing a non-stop connection to Kiev-Schuljany for a long time. Similar to Zaporozhye, this has not yet been recorded from Vienna, but has been postponed several times.
