Innsbruck Airport has been back on the network since 5:00 am after around four weeks of runway renovation. Austrian Airlines will make its first commercial landing at 10 a.m. from Vienna as OS30.

The project was basically decided in November 2019, the planning and tenders then lasted more than a year. In March 2021, the starting shot was given for the general renovation of the runway, the largest construction project to date at Innsbruck Airport. The first two construction phases mainly included preparatory work for the renewal and upgrading of the electrical installations to modern, sustainable LED technology as well as the furnishing work for the construction site.

The first commercial scheduled flight on the “new” runway will be the landing of the Austrian OS19 from Vienna on Tuesday, October 2021, 10 at 30:903 am. "We are pleased that flight operations are now resumed and that we can offer our customers a state-of-the-art runway that again meets all modern standards in good time for the upcoming winter season," concluded Pernetta.
