UEFA EURO 2024 begins in Germany in less than six weeks and Cologne/Bonn Airport is expecting a large number of football fans during the tournament. Thilo Schmid, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH, emphasizes the anticipation of welcoming travelers from all over Europe as well as teams and staff from the participating nations at the airport. As a partner of the city of Cologne, they are ready to offer a great starting point for football fans who want to attend the tournament.

Last week, the official EM mascot Albärt was spotted at the airport, putting the newly branded electric bus in the EM design into operation. This e-bus will pick up passengers from the planes and take them to the terminal and transport football fans during the tournament. The airport expects approximately 140 additional passenger flights carrying more than 30.000 travelers during the tournament period from June 14 to July 14, 2024.

The airport manager explains that many fans land in Cologne/Bonn and travel on from here. The airport wants to be a great starting point for football fans and prepare them as best as possible for a fascinating tournament.

The airport works closely with the city of Cologne's organizational team, the authorities, German air traffic control and other partners. Various activities are planned, including welcome desks, EM flags in the terminals and the deployment of numerous volunteers. The electric bus will remain in use after the European Championships as its branding is designed so that the football-specific elements can be removed while the airport design is retained.
