Start of PV plant at Nuremberg Airport: 1,7 kilometer solar power plant planned

Advertising

Construction of a new photovoltaic system has started at Nuremberg Airport.

On November 15, 2024, Minister Albert Füracker, Mayor Marcus König and Airport Managing Director Michael Hupe broke ground for the approximately 1,7-kilometer-long solar power plant along the airport fence. With an output of 13,4 megawatts peak (MWp), the plant is expected to generate 13,4 GWh of electricity annually and save around 5.100 tons of CO2. Completion is planned for June 2025. The project strengthens the airport's sustainability strategy and supports CO2 neutrality.
