Hotelplan Suisse can look back on a satisfactory summer season. In addition, the Swiss tour operator expects the autumn business to go well.

The Swiss are a people who love to travel. This is shown by a look at the booking figures for the past three months of the Swiss tour operator Hotelplan Suisse. "From the beginning of June 2021, we clearly felt our customers' desire to travel. For several weeks, the number of bookings received was clearly higher than in 2019," explains Tim Bachmann, CEO of Hotelplan Suisse.

The most popular destinations abroad were Greece (with the islands of Crete, Kos and Rhodes) followed by Spain (with Mallorca and the Canary Islands), Cyprus and Turkey. Overall, Switzerland was fifth among the most popular destinations this summer - strong growth compared to 15th place in summer 2019.

New hotline for entry requirements

What was noticeable was the high demand for information on the part of customers over the past few months about entry and return travel regulations. Since the situation around the corona pandemic is still very volatile and with a view to the upcoming autumn holidays, Hotelplan Suisse has decided to set up an information hotline. The service is available in German, French and English from Monday to Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 18:00 p.m.

Positive for the autumn season

Hotelplan Suisse is currently expecting good business in the autumn. As in the summer, holidays in Greece, Spain, Turkey and Cyprus will probably be the most popular. But holidays in the Swiss mountains are also in high demand. "Bookings are understandably still being made at very short notice. However, we are seeing an increase in bookings for the autumn holidays," says Tim Bachmann. For the coming winter months, Hotelplan Suisse is currently seeing a trend towards travel to the Caribbean, Mexico, Costa Rica, Dubai and the Maldives.
