Cologne/Bonn Airport was used by around 1,7 million travelers during the summer holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia. During the calendar month of July 2023, there were around 1,1 million passengers, which was 14 percent below the value achieved before the corona pandemic.

The peak day so far was yesterday (August 6th) with around 41.000 travelers. In total, Cologne/Bonn counted around 120.000 passengers from Friday to Sunday last weekend. "It is very gratifying that the recovery in air traffic is progressing and that we were once again able to welcome more passengers during the summer holidays than in the previous year," says Thilo Schmid, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. The airport expects a consistently high volume of travel in the coming weeks. "We are assuming that this upward trend will continue until autumn and that we will again be able to welcome more than a million passengers in August and September," says Schmid.

The most popular holiday destination this season was Turkey with more than 430.000 travelers, followed by Spain (more than 350.000 passengers) and Italy (almost 150.000 passengers). The most popular destination for passengers was Antalya with almost 195.000 passengers. Palma de Mallorca (almost 180.000 passengers) and Istanbul (more than 115.000 passengers) came in second and third.
