Turkish leisure airline SunExpress has announced that it will fly the Eintracht Frankfurt football team to the cup final against RB Leipzig, which will be held at the Berlin Olympic Stadium. The match will take place on June 3, 2023.
"Last year Eintracht showed in the final of the European Cup how good a trophy suits them - all the fighting spirit, the hard training and the passion have paid off. We would like to see that feeling for the players again this year at the finale,” confirms SunExpress CEO Max Kownatzki. “As the official airline partner, we are of course following the impressive development of Eintracht very closely. We are proud to be on board as long-term companions and keep our fingers crossed for Saturday! This would be the third time that the team has flown home with a trophy in a SunExpress plane. And as the saying goes: all good things come in threes.”
SunExpress is a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa. It specializes in air travel between Western Europe and Turkey. In the past there was also an offshoot in the Federal Republic of Germany with SunExpress Germany, but this has since been dissolved.
The SunExpress machine glides through the air in an unmistakable special paint job: true to the Eintracht Frankfurt design, fans voted for the special paint job of a Boeing 737 themselves. The PokalExpress has been on the entire SunExpress route network for around three years.
