The Portuguese airline TAP Air Portugal resumed its flight connection from Lisbon to Porto Alegre, the capital of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, on April 1, 2025.
The first flight, TP117, departed from Lisbon as scheduled and landed at Salgado Filho International Airport in Porto Alegre that evening. The resumption of this route follows a disruption in May 2024 due to severe weather conditions that affected the airport's infrastructure.
TAP will now operate the route between Lisbon and Porto Alegre three times a week. Modern Airbus A330-900 neo aircraft will be used, each with a capacity of 298 passengers. Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Departure from Lisbon is scheduled for 13.05:20.25 p.m. and arrival in Porto Alegre is scheduled for 20:21.55 p.m. With a flight time of 12.45 hours and XNUMX minutes, this connection is one of the longest in TAP's network. The return flight from Porto Alegre departs at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. and arrives in Lisbon at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
TAP Air Portugal's CEO, Luís Rodrigues, expressed his delight at the resumption of service and emphasized the airline's commitment to resume service on this route as soon as possible. He sees the restored service as an important sign for the future of Porto Alegre and for TAP. The Governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, also welcomed the resumption of direct flights as a symbol of the region's resilience and reconstruction after the severe storms. He thanked TAP for its trust in the state and its economic development.
