The “Grüner Pass” app announced by the Austrian federal government is still a long time coming. At the moment the certificates can only be obtained as PDF. What the government has not (yet) achieved, a young programmer managed single-handedly: Implementing the Green Pass certificates in common wallets on the smartphone.
To the free service from Fabian Pimminger To be able to use it, you first have to download the certificate for vaccinated, convalescent or tested persons in PDF format. You can find out in detail how this works in this article.
With this link you then upload the PDF file and then receive a so-called pkpass file. This can be opened with common apps such as Apple Wallet, Google Pay, Stocard and many others. After you have done this, the certificate and QR code appear in the respective app. Basically, any app that can process pkpass files can be used on iOS and Android. The certificates can also be made readable on smartwatches.
The online tool provided by programmer Fabian Pimminger can be used free of charge. Registration is also not required. Whether and in particular when an official app will be made available by the federal government is still completely open.
