During the 2025 carnival holidays, Nuremberg Airport is seeing a significant increase in passenger numbers. Around 70.000 travelers are expected, which is around 10.000 more than in an average winter week. Holiday destinations that offer warmer temperatures are particularly popular. Egypt is one of the top destinations, with the coastal towns of Hurghada and Marsa Alam in particular experiencing high demand. Mallorca, Antalya and Tenerife are also very popular because they already offer travelers spring-like temperatures.

According to Christian Albrecht, press spokesman for the airport, the carnival holidays are a popular travel time, when many people take the opportunity to escape the cold, wet weather. It is particularly worth mentioning that many holidaymakers prefer to eat falafel in Egypt instead of the classic doughnuts in Franconia. City trips to Amsterdam, Hamburg and Paris are also popular options during this travel time.

Demand for warm destinations is particularly high at this time, as many travelers use the carnival holidays for a short relaxing vacation. The variety of destinations shows that both beach vacationers and city trip fans benefit from the offers. For Nuremberg Airport, this means an increase in passenger numbers, which reflects a positive development in travel traffic.
