In a very interesting place, it should be noted that the willingness of Austrians to travel has risen sharply: pharmacies are currently recording increased sales of typical travel medication.

Sales of travel sickness remedies are up 56 percent year-on-year. At the same time, sales of remedies for colds and mild infections increased by 66 percent. In contrast, sales of weight-loss aid products have fallen by over 20 percent.

“Changes in the lifestyle of the population are always reflected in the sales in the pharmacies. That is why the extraordinarily strong increase in medicines against travel sickness is a strong indication that our compatriots are increasingly being drawn abroad again. The decline in slimming products also underlines the return to joie de vivre and enjoyment. At the same time, the strong increase in cold medicines indicates the high demand in the first months of 2022, but this also includes a proportion of increased precautions for late summer and autumn, which is not surprising in view of the current forecasts," explains pharmacist Martin R. Geisler, Secretary General of the ApoLife Pharmacy Group.
