Netherlands-based aircraft lessor TrueNoord has reached a significant milestone with the acquisition of seven ATR 72-600 aircraft from German asset management company GOAL. This transaction increases TrueNoord's fleet size to over 100 aircraft and adds three new European airlines to its customer portfolio, underlining the company's ambition to become one of the leading regional aircraft leasing providers worldwide.

The seven new aircraft, including four units already leased to Air Serbia, two for Emerald Airlines and one for Olympic Air, mark an important step in TrueNoord's growth strategy. The ATR 72-600 is known for its efficiency and versatility, characteristics that make it particularly popular in regional traffic.

Nigel Turner, Chairman of TrueNoord, emphasizes the importance of this acquisition: "Our goal is to actively support the regional aviation market. Thanks to the stability of our equity investors and the international banking community, we have established ourselves as a reliable partner in the industry."

focus on long-term partnerships

TrueNoord works closely with its lessees to optimize their operations. CEO Anne-Bart Tieleman explained that the company is prioritizing expanding its fleet with modern technology. The focus is not only on turboprop aircraft such as the ATR 72, but also on larger regional jets and small narrowbody aircraft. This strategy is intended to provide TrueNoord's customers with more operational flexibility and reliability.

Ahmed Ali, Sales Director at TrueNoord, praised the cooperation with GOAL, which led to a smooth transaction. GOAL itself sees this deal as an opportunity to maximize the value of its aviation investments while driving the development of European aviation.

Global presence and future goals

With offices in Amsterdam, London, Dublin and Singapore, TrueNoord already operates on several continents. The company's fleet includes a wide range of aircraft types, including ATR models, Canadair CRJ900 and De Havilland DHC-8-400, as well as Embraer regional jets. Prominent customers include British Airways, KLM CityHopper, LOT Polish Airlines and Republic Airways. In 2025, TrueNoord plans to expand to North America to further expand its reach.

Market outlook

The demand for regional aircraft is increasing worldwide, which gives TrueNoord a favorable position in the market. The purchase of the ATR 72-600 from GOAL reflects the growing importance of regional aircraft for modern aviation. With a larger fleet and a diversified customer portfolio, the company is well positioned to benefit from this trend and further expand its market position.
