Following the problems with the canceled Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna, the Vida union is pushing for a comprehensive security services law. Roman Hebenstreit, chairman of the union, emphasizes the need for clear regulations for security service companies in order to prevent abuse and inadequate security standards. The union is calling for stricter guidelines for awarding security contracts, regular inspections of companies and more precise requirements for the training of security personnel.

Hebenstreit particularly criticizes the practice of awarding security services at short notice and at low cost, which can lead to security risks, especially at major events and critical infrastructures such as airports. He calls for official registration of security guards and stricter access requirements. A new law should also improve the working conditions of security guards in order to address the high level of fluctuation and the currently unattractive working conditions in the industry. According to Hebenstreit, such a law would increase both the protection of employees and the safety of event visitors.
