The Uniqa travel insurance presents its new product "Privatschutz Reise," which allows travelers to purchase insurance completely digitally and flexibly right up until shortly before departure. The offer is aimed at providing comprehensive protection to Austrians who particularly appreciate insurance before traveling abroad. According to current statistics from UNIQA, around 90 percent of the policies concluded relate to trips abroad, with 57 percent of these also including coverage for cancellations and potential trip interruption.
Peter Humer, Board Member for Customer & Market Austria at Uniqa Insurance Group AG, emphasized the importance of such coverage: "Every traveler should ask themselves: What happens if I need medical assistance at my vacation destination or if I need to be repatriated?" He emphasized that Uniqa has always paid attention to affordability so that costs do not stand in the way of a worry-free vacation. "Privatschutz Reise" is available for trips both within Austria and abroad and includes various benefits depending on the chosen option (Optimal, Optimal Plus).
For trips abroad, comprehensive international travel health insurance, luggage and personal liability insurance, as well as additional travel expenses and involuntary vacation extensions, are automatically included. Travel cancellation and curtailment insurance, as well as deductible protection for rented vehicles and sports equipment, can also be selected. For customers who prioritize health, Uniqa also offers pure international travel health insurance. In case of emergency, a German-speaking Uniqa SOS service is available around the clock, providing support in the event of illness or accident and organizing medically necessary repatriation if necessary.
The ability to purchase insurance online and at short notice, even on the day of departure for pure international travel health insurance, is one of the key advantages of the new offering. Uniqa, as one of the leading insurance companies in Austria and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), serves over 14 million customers in 17 countries. In Austria, Uniqa is the second-largest insurance group with a market share of approximately 21 percent, underscoring the company's importance in the domestic insurance market.
