The Spanish low-cost airline Volotea will no longer include the Milan Linate city airport in its expansion strategy.
Volotea boss Carlos Muñoz confirmed this in an interview with the Italian newspaper *Corriere della Sera*. The airline is thus withdrawing its interest in the 30 take-off and landing slots that are to become available due to EU requirements following the takeover of ITA Airways by Lufthansa.
Following Volotea's withdrawal, the British airline EasyJet remains the only applicant for these coveted take-off and landing slots at the inner-city Linate airport. Volotea's withdrawal could give EasyJet an advantage in the competition for the Italian market.
