The Belgian Weerts Group is planning to develop a new logistics park in the region around Leipzig/Halle Airport. The subsidiary Weerts Logistics Parks began construction of a logistics park in June 2024 that will include a storage area of around 37.500 square meters. Once completed, around 100 new jobs are to be created.

In May 2023, a leasehold agreement was signed between MFAG and WeertsLogistics Parks, laying the foundations for the logistics park. This will consist of two hall areas separated by Hans-Wittwer-Strasse. Construction of the first hall area is scheduled to be completed by the end of April 2025, while the second area is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. The marketing of the space is aimed primarily at companies in the air freight industry.

The facility comprises a total of five units with a height of 12,50 meters, equipped with ten to twelve loading bridges and ground-level access. In addition, 143 parking spaces for cars, 25 for trucks and various bicycle parking spaces are planned. Sustainability plays a central role: all office buildings will have a green roof and the halls will be equipped with photovoltaic systems. Charging points for electric vehicles will also be set up.
