In the imminent winter flight schedule 2021/22, Austrian Airlines will not fly between Vienna and Cape Town. The carrier confirmed to Aviation Direct that the seasonal route will be suspended this year.

"Due to the still volatile entry conditions to and from South Africa, we decided to suspend the rotation Vienna-Cape Town-Vienna in this year's winter flight schedule," said a spokeswoman for Austrian Airlines.

In the area of hot water destinations, the Austrian Lufthansa subsidiary wants to focus this year on the destinations Cancun, Malé and Mauritius. According to the company, sales should go well: “We are already looking forward to very good bookings, which is why we have already increased the offer significantly during the Christmas holidays (CUN: 10 instead of 7 round trips between 19DEC and 09JAN, MLE 15 instead of 10 round trips between 17DEC and 09JAN, MRU 13 instead of 10 round trips between 17DEC and 09JAN) ”, said the AUA media officer.
