This week, the Wizz Air Group signed a contract with the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus for 75 additional Airbus A321neos. This increases the total number of ordered machines of this type to 434 pieces.
Taking into account the A320neo aircraft that have not yet been delivered, Wizz Air is awaiting the delivery of a total of 484 commercial aircraft. CEO József Váradi said: "With today's announcement, Wizz Air is further strengthening its position as the largest operator of A321 neo family aircraft in Europe and the Middle East. More than half of our fleet has already been converted to the state-of-the-art neo technology. The unprecedented economic efficiency and remarkably low carbon footprint of the A2neo aircraft underline our commitment to offering our customers affordable and sustainable travel options. We look back on a long-standing strategic partnership with Airbus and remain committed to this exceptional technology with one of the largest order books in the world of more than 321 neo aircraft."
Wizz Air maintains flight operations with its own certificates in Hungary, Malta, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Another offshoot to be located in Saudi Arabia is in the pipeline. According to its own information, the group-wide fleet currently consists of 185 aircraft from the manufacturer Airbus.
“Thanks to József's leadership, Wizz Air has grown steadily and become an impressive airline in European skies and a great partner for Airbus. The investment in the A321neo model is a solid foundation for Wizz Air's further expansion strategy. We thank József and all Wizz Air employees for their unwavering trust in our A320 family and especially in our unrivalled A321neo aircraft,” said Christian Scherer, Chief Commercial Officer of Airbus and Head of Airbus International.
