In the summer of 2020, the low-cost airline Wizz Air announced an extensive range of flights from Salzburg. Only a few weeks later, the Hungarian lowcoster disappeared again from the Mozart city. The possible comeback in the summer flight schedule 2021 will be reduced again.

Wizz Air has not yet taken on all routes announced from Salzburg and those that were flown were discontinued after a few weeks due to the immigration and quarantine regulations, which had an extremely negative effect on demand. For example, Kiev-Shulyany and Saint Petersburg have not yet been included. These two destinations are currently announced for the 2021 summer flight schedule. Wizz Air is currently only planning one more route from Austria's second largest airport, Varna.

Still at 7. January 2021 Larnaka, Tuzla and Belgrade were included in the list of destinations planned from Salzburg for the summer flight schedule 2021. These have now been deleted from the plans. Sales have ceased and the destinations mentioned are no longer included in the low-cost airline's reservation system.

As of February 5, 2021, Wizz Air is planning the following destinations from Salzburg:

  • St. Petersburg
  • Kiev Shulyany
  • Varna
