On Thursday, March 6, 2025, a dramatic incident occurred at Avalon Airport in Australia when a 17-year-old boarded a Jetstar aircraft with a loaded shotgun. The teenager disguised himself as an airport employee and entered the premises through a hole in the fence. He drew the weapon on the stairs leading to the aircraft, which was carrying 160 passengers.

Witnesses reported that the teenager also claimed to have bombs in his bag during the incident. However, before things could escalate, passengers and crew intervened. One passenger threw the shotgun down the stairs and detained the teenager until police arrived. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Police in the state of Victoria arrested the 17-year-old and brought him to court, where he was charged with several offenses, including endangering the security of an aircraft, possession of a firearm, and making a false bomb threat. The young man remains in custody. In response to the incident, security measures at Avalon Airport have been increased. The passenger who overpowered the attacker will receive free flights for life.
